Sandy Blackmore Passes Away

Sandy Blackmore and her late husband John were long-time volunteers with KATVA. Sandy was also the first woman volunteer firefighter at the Burnt River Fire Hall.  She passed away on Monday, July 6th, 2020 after a courageous battle against cancer.

Sandy will be deeply missed by the KATVA family.

All Trails in 5 Points Officially Open

A big shout out to all our landowners! All the trails in the 5 points are now officially open! We had one trail that was still gated but it’s open now. Thank you to all the landowners in the 5 points who support motorized users including ATVs, snowmobiles, off road trucks

Construction Work on the VRTC

Construction has now begun on the Victoria Rail Trail Corridor (VRTC) from Northline Road to north of the Burnt River Bridge. The trail isn’t necessarily closed but from time to time they may have it blocked off for safety reasons so please use caution and respect the crews out there working.

Haliburton Rail Trail Remains Closed

Unfortunately we just received the following notice directly from the County of Haliburton….” The Rail Trail remains closed to use by motorized vehicles as long as we remain under a Provincial State of Emergency. ”

Victoria Rail Trail Maintenance – May 27, 2020

Important Notice that a section of the VRTC between Fenelon Falls and Northline Road will be closed to all traffic on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 for the removal of a large hazardous tree. Please avoid that section of the trail for the day.
