Trail Opening May be Delayed
In case you aren’t aware, several municipalities were hit with a devastating ice storm this past weekend. A state of emergency has been declared in Kawartha Lakes and 95% of households were without power by Monday.
The weight of the ice and rain caused hydro poles to snap in half and thousands of trees to come down or lose limbs.
The city staff are still assessing the damage to the trails and it will be some time before the cleanup is completed. As of now ALL trails are closed to ALL users. We cannot confirm yet whether the trails will be open for May 1st so please follow our pages and we will keep you posted once we have more information to share. Please do not go out onto the trails to do any cleanup unless we have asked you to volunteer for one of our cleanup crews.
