Descriptionunlock, open and relock the gates on the Central Victoria Rail Trail. While the march was in progress, trail users were cautioned about a group on the trail ahead.
Notes

The legion in Fenelon Falls was having a fundraiser march from Fenelon Falls--south on the CVRT to the legion in Lindsay.
To facilitate the march, the locks were opened and removed on Friday so we did not have to unlock them in the dark Saturday.
On Saturday, all the gates were opened from Wychwood Road in Fenelon Falls to William Street in Lindsay.

At this time, the locks were oiled. After the marchers had passed, the gates were closed and relocked. The bolt on the
cross over bar at the south gate of Naylor Road was replaced.

The CVRT was inspected from Wychwood Road to William Street on Friday and again before the march on Saturday morning to remove
the several small branches that were knocked down by the snow and rain on Friday.

There was a miscommunication about the starting point of the march. Instead of starting at the trail head on Wychwood Road, the marchers
left the Legion and walked up West Street to the CVRT. Chris was positioned at Wychwood waiting for the marchers that did not come.
This meant that gates were opened that were not used.

We were informed that a side by side would follow the marchers. no side by side was used. The non use of the side by side was not
communicated to KATVA.

The CVRT has many pot holes and tire grooves that held water from the snow and rain. The marchers had to do a few sock changes.
I suggest grading the trail in spring 2026 there is material on the trail that can be re-distributed.

If this march is repeated, KATVA should be part of the planning process to avoid miscommunication and extra work!
